Boxwood Music Festival

Boxwood YouthJuly24th - July 30th, 2011

Lunenburg, Nova Scotia becomes the traditional flute playing center of the world during the last week of July each year as top performers, teachers, scholars, makers, students and enthusiasts gather for a week to learn and share. Many of the musical traditions explored at Boxwood typically employ simple-system wooden flutes, but it's not required that you bring one - nor is it necessary for you to even know how to play one!

26th Annual Lunenburg Folk Harbour Festival
August 4 – 7, 2011

Folk Harbour FestivalIn 2011, the Lunenburg Folk Harbour Festival celebrates 26 years of
presenting traditional and contemporary folk music that hightlight the
culture and history of Nova Scotia and other North Atlantic regions
through music, dance and other forms of artistic expression. For four full
days from high atop Blockhouse Hill to the Fisheries Museum of the
Atlantic wharf, this historic port is alive with music.

Paint Sea on Site and Silent Auction

Every summer the Lunenburg Art Gallery hosts a wet paint sale called Paint Sea on Site. As many as 70 artists converge on Lunenburg for a two day painting extravaganza.

Summer Opera Festival

Friday, June 18
Some Enchanted Evening is a light programme of Broadway favourites
featuring the MCO Chorus and audience favourites mezzo-soprano Nina
Scott-Stoddart and baritone Andrew Tees.  Diane Oxner Macdonald will conduct and the accompanist is Heather Kristenson.  Enjoy excerpts from Guys and Dolls, South Pacific, Les Misérables, Sweeney Todd, The Sound of Music and  other shows.


Performance starts at 7.30 p.m. on Friday, June 18 at the Pearl Theatre,
Lunenburg.  Tickets for Some Enchanted Evening are $15 adults, $5 for
children 12 and under, available from Sagor's Bookstore, Bridgewater;
Fulton's Pharmacy, Lunenburg; Kinburn Pharmacy, Mahone Bay; or call 634-4280.

Saturday, June 19

Don Giovanni is the centrepiece of the Summer Opera Festival and will be
performed at the Pearl Theatre in Lunenburg at 7.30 p.m. Tickets are $20,
children 12 and under $5.  Lunenburg tickets are available from Fulton's
Pharmacy in Lunenburg, Sagor's Bookstore in Bridgewater and Kinburn
