25th Annual Lunenburg Folk Harbour Festival
August 5 – 8, 2010

Folk Harbour FestivalIn 2010, the Lunenburg Folk Harbour Festival celebrates 25 years of presenting traditional and contemporary folk music that hightlight the culture and history of Nova Scotia and other North Atlantic regions through music, dance and other forms of artistic expression. For four full days from high atop Blockhouse Hill to the Fisheries Museum of the Atlantic wharf, this historic port is alive with music.

The Lunenburg Folk Harbour Festival is Nova Scotia’s longest running folk festival and the second longest in Atlantic Canada. The Festival offers a balance of traditional and contemporary folk performers, local musicians, promising new singer/songwriters and seasoned folk artists. The magical blend of captivating music, stunning scenery and warm Lunenburg hospitality guarantee the wonderful memories that draw people back year after year. A wide range of workshops provide Festival goers of all ages with opportunities to dance, sing, play and learn. The Children’s Stage operates each afternoon to entertain the younger set with music and crafts. And the Sunday morning Gospel Concert is not to be missed.

A special feature of the 25th anniversary celebrations is a Traditional Music Conference on the Festival’s opening day, Thursday August 5, 2010. Nova Scotia folklorist extraordinaire, Clary Croft, promises an interesting gathering for music fans and scholars alike. Check the website, www.folkharbour.com  for updates.

In addition to the Festival, the Lunenburg Folk Harbour Society stages year-round activities that include a monthly Concert Series, Summer Sunday Bandstand Concerts (July – September) and a spring fundraiser, Folk Fiesta! as well as a variety of community collaborations.
