26th Annual Lunenburg Folk Harbour Festival
August 4 – 7, 2011
In 2011, the Lunenburg Folk Harbour Festival celebrates 26 years ofpresenting traditional and contemporary folk music that hightlight the
culture and history of Nova Scotia and other North Atlantic regions
through music, dance and other forms of artistic expression. For four full
days from high atop Blockhouse Hill to the Fisheries Museum of the
Atlantic wharf, this historic port is alive with music.
The Lunenburg Folk Harbour Festival is Nova Scotia’s longest running folk
festival and the second longest in Atlantic Canada. The Festival offers a
balance of traditional and contemporary folk performers, local musicians,
promising new singer/songwriters and seasoned folk artists. The magical
blend of captivating music, stunning scenery and warm Lunenburg
hospitality guarantee the wonderful memories that draw people back year
after year. A wide range of workshops provide Festival goers of all ages
with opportunities to dance, sing, play and learn. The Sunday morning
Gospel Concert is not to be missed.
The 26th Folk Harbour Festival runs August 4th-7th, 2011 and includes
returning favorites Joel Plaskett, David Myles, Rose Cousins and Rawlins
Cross, along with several new additions to the Folk Harbour family.
Hometown hero Joel Plaskett is headlining the Main Stage Sunday evening,
August 7th, and his performance will surely be a crowd pleaser. A special
feature of the 26th Annual Folk Harbour Festival is the Traditional Music
Conference including workshops on sea ballads, Scottish ballads and
traditional ballads. Held in the historic Lutheran Church of
Lunenburg,Norman Kennedy, Debra Cowan, Brian Peters, Jeff Davis and
Sheesham & Lotus lead the workshops and promise an interesting gathering
