Terre-Neuve Newfoundlanders and Friends, "Newfie Days"
15th Annual Newfie Days
October 14th, 15th and 16th, 2011
Newfoundland and Lunenburg County have shared close ties since there were fisherfolk on the North Atlantic. Starting in the early 20th century more and more Newfoundlanders found jobs in Lunenburg, which at the time was home to the largest salt fishing fleet in the world.
"Newfie Days" is a celebration of the vibrant culture and heritage of Newfoundland and Labrador. The weekend long festival includes contests, food, entertainment and dancing. Everything will be served up with a dash of world famous Newfoundland humour. A "Blessing of the Fishermen" service will be held at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church in Lunenburg.
"Newfie Days" takes place Friday October 14th to Sunday 16th. For more information contact Ellen Hunt at 634 8017 or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
