Festivals and Events in Lunenburg Lunenburg was not all work and no play, even in the earliest days. In the mid-nineteenth century, for example, the merchant Adolphus Gaetz recorded various local events, including anniversaries, bazaars, lectures, concerts, dances and picnics, though the pages of his diary, 1855-73. Lunenburg's celebrations, festivals, and gatherings take place year round! Whether it is our heritage and culture, arts and crafts, or our music... you name it, we celebrate it! July 19 -25th, 2008 Lunenburg, Nova Scotia becomes the traditional flute playing center of the world during the last week of July each year as top performers, teachers, scholars, makers, students and enthusiasts gather for a week to learn and share. Many of the musical traditions explored at Boxwood typically employ simple-system wooden flutes, but it's not required that you bring one - nor is it necessary for you to even know how to play one! |
