UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE SITE TOWN OF LUNENBURG, N.S. CANADA Lunenburg Arena
Noon until 4 p.m.
The Nova Scotia Folk Art Society created the Folk Art Festival several years ago, and now concentrates on the stewardship and documentation of Nova Scotia folk artists and folk art. They turned the event over to the Lunenburg Heritage Society in 2002.
The N.S. Folk Art Festival is organized by the staff and volunteers of the Lunenburg Heritage Society, a non-profit organization. The Society owns and maintains important old town Lunenburg heritage sites. These sites are the nationally designated historic Knaut-Rhuland House and the restored Bandstand.
What is Folk Art? The perennial What is Folk Art Question. In addition to our mainstream artists, we include a cross section of other folk-related artists, from workers in the traditional folk crafts to those whose work has developed beyond folk art and others whose style and subject matter is strongly influenced by folk art. Please visit the official Nova Scotia Folk Art Festival Web site for additional information and contact details. |
